Interiors - the new culture of living*

From collectible design to intelligent ecosystems: Milan Design Week 2026 outlines trends for the next decade Cattelan Italia -  photo Temenouzhka Zaharieva Milan Design Week is the most important moment of the year for the world of design – it is here that professionals and enthusiasts gather not only to discover new products, but also to exchange knowledge, to be informed and, ultimately, to do business. It turns every corner of the city into a stage for bold ideas, surprising installations and projects that shape the direction of interior design for the coming months. The event is so vast that even seven days are not enough to cover everything – from the main fair, the Salone del Mobile at Rho Fiera, to the Fuorisalone – the dozens of exhibitions and installations scattered throughout the city. Milan Design Week is not really “about furniture”. It is a fascinating cultural phenomenon that uses furniture as its medium and predicts how we will live, work and connect in the next de...

Interior Design Trends 2026 - Midimlism?*

Pinterest It would be unrealistic to expect that we will change our home every year to keep up with the latest trends - like in fashion, for example. But a little inspiration is never superfluous, and more information is always useful, because it can help us, if not to change our interior in general, then at least to make it as comfortable as possible for us. It is also interesting to learn about global development directions, because these trends reflect the culture as a whole - how we live, what we value and how we want to feel when we wake up in the morning and come home in the evening. Hendel & Hendel Recent research shows a search for a sense of  lived-in  interior - people increasingly prefer photos of homes that show real life, rather than photos intended for publication in interior magazines. "There is a growing awareness on social media that decorating should never be just for a photo," says Lucy Hammond Giles, director at Sibyl Colefax & Fowler. Imperf...

The Pleasure of Creating Your Dream Home and How to Take Advantage of Trend Ideas *

Interior design trends are not the same as fashion trends , but very often they interact with each other. In the interior, trends have a significantly longer-lasting impact and are more often an indicator of where we are going, of a change in the way people, communities and societies think and perceive the environment in which we live. They take shape slowly over time and are the result of both innovations and technological innovations in production and design, as well as popular or completely unexpected significant events that make us change many things in our lifestyle. But still, we often observe the penetration of interesting ideas that offer unexpected solutions and make our homes more cheerful, cozy and inspiring. Like the impressive splendor and fashion influences in furniture design - one of the prevailing trends in interior design in the last year. PIANCA For some time now, table designs show unexpected, often sculptural base, and every year we see more and more interesting s...

The New Office Designs - Trends*

Not really offices exactly, but flexible spaces and products that move and change their place and function so that they can serve us better and  longer. EUROCUCINA 2022 - The Evolution of the Kitchen*

*A translation of my article  in "More for the house" on-line magazine. Kitchen Geometrica design by Luca Nichetto for Scavolini  "The kitchen is the place in our home that best represents who we are and how our style and lifestyle have evolved over time," says renowned Italian designer Antonio Citterio. And not only that - during the past two years of restrictions we have realized that it is becoming more and more important to us. That's why it's useful to know what's new, what we can take advantage of. One of the most important sources of information on the subject is EUROCUCINA - the event dedicated to kitchen design at the Salone del Mobile fair in Milan. The first full-fledged edition of the fair, which took place in June, included both events that usually alternate every year: Eurocucina and the International Bathroom Exhibition. The idea was to present the novelties and trends that have been formed during the time of predominantly digital represen...

TRENDS 2022*

Maybe it's time to say goodbye to white bathrooms and kitchens and welcome the gorgeous new textures into your home. Trends are not just fashion, but  preferences based on the period of time and living conditions. Remember how many followers there were and still are of the Chinese art of energy management feng shui, of the Japanese wabi sabi, etc. In fact, they are just a means to build our oasis of inner peace and comfort , which in recent years of isolation has become increasingly important for each of us.  How we achieve it - with a variety of colors and materials and with the use of more textures, now in bathrooms, too. Quiz by Acquabella This is also a manifestation of the pandemic's growing tendency for more and more sensory experiences in every contact with the elements of the interior. And it turns out that our emotions and senses control the spaces in which we exist. And designers and manufacturers are quick to respond to our needs. Although the traditional Janu...

My home is my fortress, my office, my gym ...*

Undoubtedly, 2020 will go down in history as the year in which (almost) we all moved our workplace home. The world we live in, and with it the world of design, is changing at a dizzying rate. And all together we are trying to catch up with the changes, each one in his own way. We learn to live mostly online, while rediscovering some abandoned ways of communicating, such as walking and long phone conversations or communicating in a very small circle. In recent months, we had also to get used to an unexpected development of one of the major global trends - from living in a globalized to living in a local, microworld. With periods of forced closure, our home has become a refuge from the uncertain world outside and a stage for all activities in everyday life. It is no longer a place to cross, but a "base camp". We have learned to appreciate again the importance of the home environment, the yard, the balcony and the garden. And we quickly had to think about what we like in our ho...

Design Must Go On (line) *

One of the most important exhibitions in the field of interior design - Salone del Mobile in Milan, has been canceled, but important trends remain * English translation of my article in Capital LIGHT Bicocca by IOK  This year will be memorable for all of us. It is as if everything has stopped and an unprecedented internal reorganization is going on everywhere - regardless of personal desires. But for design, over the past week, the change has been even more tangible, because at this time of year, all of us usually focus on Milan. If it weren't for the pandemic, the 59th edition of the traditional Salone del Mobile (and with it the Fuori Salone) was to take place in Milan from April 21 to 26 this year - one of the most important design and furniture fairs. every year it welcomes over 400 thousand visitors. For the thousands of designers, design brands and editors who flock to Milan year after year to try to capture the vast amount of innovation in the halls of Fier...
