60th Salone del Mobile.Milano - the same and different

The much expected 60th Salone del Mobile.Milano will be held, as announced earlier, between Tuesday 7th to Sunday 12th of June this year. There will be continuity with “supersalone”, especially as far as sustainability is concerned, but what are the novelties?

*There will be stands: "Finally this year, after two long years, we are able to build those worlds that can only come alive at the Salone del Mobile.Milano. Our companies are starting with a blank sheet, designing genuine total living ambiances, with incredible freedom of expression, making for new solutions year after year", explains president Maria Porro in an interview by Cristina Kiran Piotti.

*"We will have a “no brand” space, an investment by the Salone del Mobile.Milano in a project on the future of sustainability, furnishing and materials, which has been assigned to a leading architect who has stood out for their meticulous approach to the issue – I can’t reveal their name yet."

*"There will be an event at La Scala and a large exhibition at Palazzo Reale – an interactive installation that is a gift from the Salone del Mobile.Milano to the city, which will run for two weeks."

*New development as regards SaloneSatellite - "We have decided to locate it at the start of the fair, to give it even greater prominence. It will also be free to visit, obviating the need for tickets to the fair, and will feature an extremely interesting project on the theme of inclusive design."

I suppose that these are just a few of the novelties that are expected for the 2022 Salone del Mobile.Milano which will celebrate this year a major anniversary - its 60th edition! - and we all are eager to see them :)

My reports on Supersalone in short at my blog Trendoffice and about some of the trends from Supersalone are below on this blog here. I am available for more detailed analysis on trends.

My home is my fortress, my office, my gym ...*

Undoubtedly, 2020 will go down in history as the year in which (almost) we all moved our workplace home. The world we live in, and with it the world of design, is changing at a dizzying rate. And all together we are trying to catch up with the changes, each one in his own way. We learn to live mostly online, while rediscovering some abandoned ways of communicating, such as walking and long phone conversations or communicating in a very small circle. In recent months, we had also to get used to an unexpected development of one of the major global trends - from living in a globalized to living in a local, microworld. With periods of forced closure, our home has become a refuge from the uncertain world outside and a stage for all activities in everyday life. It is no longer a place to cross, but a "base camp". We have learned to appreciate again the importance of the home environment, the yard, the balcony and the garden. And we quickly had to think about what we like in our ho...

Впечатленията на К. Грчич от Sofia Design Week

And this is my inteview with K. Grcic included in the latest issue of  magazine Nash dom and its first new format - INTERIORS QUATERLY, which starts with a short history. 2011 is presented with my interview: Share

My Interview for Interior Deluxe

INTERVIEW TEMENOUZHKA ZAHARIEVA By  Ingo Schaer Interior Deluxe talked to  Temenouzhka Zaharieva,  an Interior Designer from Sofia, about Living Room Lighting and How to create a good mood in your living space by using great lighting. Interior-Deluxe: What’s important to keep in mind when lighting a living room ? TZ: Lighting  is one  of the  most  exciting elements of interior design, and yet one that can still be neglected.  Especially by clients, mostly because they are not aware of the many possibilities that lighting can bring to the overall impact of a room – both, during the day when not switched on, but it can be a great accent piece with its design, and in the darkness of the night when we can create different moods just with the help of lighting. The old days of the single pendant light in the middle of the room are becoming a distant memory, a  g ood living room lighting  today  means a good mix of lighti...
